Project objective
The project aims at increasing the security of air cargo while increasing - or at least maintaining - the efficiency of the value-adding operative activities within the air freight business. The main focus in the project is not on the development and implementation of additional technical components but rather on processual and organizational measures with respect to economic aspects. The project is based on a process-oriented approach which takes into account the overall transport process chain with all involved stakeholders and actors.
The project objectives are important both in basic and in applied research.
Objectives in basic research include:
- establishing a high-level meta-model of air cargo with a representation of current and future process chains, which uses a scalable and standardized modeling language,
- a comprehensive analysis of the main security parameters of the air cargo supply chain, in particular the relevant (currently used) technologies, the current deployment of personnel and existing threats and security requirements,
- a design of future scenarios, in particular regarding threat, prevention, protection and interaction and
- the design of comprehensive and detailed solutions for the scope of action for personnel and technology with the proviso to improve aviation security along the entire transport chain.
Objectives in applied research include:
- demonstration and integration of the concepts designed for a secure air cargo transport chain and subsequently the analysis of the resulting effects in practice and
- the aggregation of the achieved results and shaping recommendations for action in entrepreneurial practice and policy making.
